Deloitte Releases New Report on VC Trends

Deloitte just released an interesting report on Global Trends in Venture Capital. The report was based on responses from over 700 general partners at VC firms around the world. Of note to those who follow the M&A market is the shift of funds of all sizes to more investments in later stage companies. The article makes specific note of the difficulties of investing in a B round company in today’s market.

Also of interest is the shift to anticipated investments in clean technologies. Almost two-thirds of respondents believe that investments in clean technologies will increase in the next three years, a far higher number than for any other sector. On the flip side, 50% of respondents said they anticipated decreased investment in semiconductors as a sector. The chart below is also from the Deloitte report:
